COURSE DESCRIPTION
In Geometry, students will build on their Algebra 1 knowledge to strengthen their mathematical reasoning skills in geometric contexts. Students will focus on more precise terminology, symbolic representations and the development of proofs.

  • Coordinate and Transformational Geometry
  • Geometric Logic and Reasoning  
  • Parallel Line and Transversals
  • Congruent and Similar Triangles
  • Special Right Triangles and Trigonometry
  • Two and Three Dimensional Measurement
  • Circles
  • Probability   


EXPECTATIONS
  • Students will be expected to keep an updated math binder with all notes and assignments,
  • Students will do all classwork, homework, and assessments in PENCIL.
  • Students will come to class on time, prepared, and ready to learn!
  • Students will deposit cellphones at door.
  • Students must maintain a personal standard of academic ethics.
GRADING POLICY
Homework or Classwork 40%
  • Corrections on assignments and/or tutoring can earn back a maximum of half of the points lost on assignments.  
  • Makeup Work (related to absences) Students have (2:1) 2 school days per day missed to complete the makeup assignment/s. If makeup work is not completed within the allocated time, then the late work penalties apply.  
  • Late Work (not related to absences) Penalty of 10 points per day until graded work is returned.
Tests and Quizzes 25%
  • Retakes for all tests or quizzes must be completed by the next test/quiz or 1 week of the original date (whichever is first).
  • Retake grade is averaged with the original grade.
  • Notes are not allowed on major tests.
Six Weeks test 15%
  • No Retakes
Project 20%
  • Geometry Binder  
  • Special Presentations



MATERIALS
  • Math designated binder (3-ring 1 inch or 1.5 inch binder)
  • Compass
  • Lined paper, graph paper, eraser, 2 colored pens, and LOTS of pencils or mechanical pencils


TUTORING HOURS
After-school tutoring 4:20 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays or per Math Department Tutoring Schedule
